| | | 10/23/02 Doug, Thanks again for sharing your excellent hunting skills with this "marsh monkey." Truly the BEST hunting experience I've EVER had!! Your lodge and staff are everything and more than I could have expected. Your hard work and long hours are a strain I'm sure, but once the decoys are set and were scanning the sky, your as pumped as any new guy on his first 'real' duck hunt. Thanks and a hand shake don't show enough gratitude. Keep up your hard work, we all appreciate it! SEE YOU AGAIN NEXT YEAR -Brian Beam, Battle Creek, Michigan | | | 9/21/2004 Thanks for everything! I ended up getting 4 ducks and 1 goose on Saturday and 3 ducks on Sunday. So I got 8 birds. On my ride home I saw a wounded female Mallard so we chased it but, never got it! (It probably had a band!) I want to say thanks to Dan! He is why we got the goose since my dad can't call geese he's getting better! I want to say thanks to you Chris you cook great food but my dad said you have better food on opener im comming! Tell Doug thanks that he put me in not one but two great blinds im defiantly comming back! Well see you October bye! I wrote a poem!
Sincerely, Brandon Starr | | | Posted in www.refugeforums.com 9/30/2005 Doug from Fish point Lodge to the rescue.
I got a call from Doc Heaven this morning, who had just talked to Doug from Fish Point. The big wind on Monday night blew 24 ft Pontoon blind all the way to Seabwang! Some body called Doug to see if it was one of his. Well Doug being the guy that everyone says he is, Drove down to check it out then went back got his workers and a couple of boats. They got it out before the water went down (Then I really would have been screwed) and pulled it back and put it in place using a proper ancher. This took him over 4 hours. I'll get out there Tuesday to replace the anchor and check it out.
I've talked to Doug and will square things with him, When I asked him how much I owed him he only asked enough to cover his pay for his workers. I'll do a little better!
Thought folks would like to know what a good guy he is, in case your thinking about booking a hunt with him.
Jim Thompson | | | June 3, 2007 Doug and Chris, My dad (Butch), son (Patrick) and myself want to thank you for all of the hospitality you showed us during our May Walleye 101 trip. Your lodge is a little bit of heaven on earth. Chris, your food was some of the best I’ve ever tasted. Thanks for helping me blow my diet. We hope to make this an annual event so we will see you again next year. I’ve already started spreading the word about your place and how great the both of you were so hopefully you’ll get a few more happy customers. Thanks again, Keith Appold | | | 9/22/2008 Chris & Doug: thanks again for a great weekend. Not only did Aaron get his first duck, but also his first limit! I was most impressed with how well he handled the gun though. Not once did he forget to put the safety back on and he remembered to pump the gun after every shot. He was also careful about picking spots away from the decoys to shoot. I know that I did not have the same composure on my first hunt! The great experience he had at Fish Point Lodge sparked an interest in hunting and the outdoors that will bring him a lifetime of enjoyment. I look forward to our next trip.
Joel Schlader P.S. Billy is a great kid with a great attitude.
| | | | August 11, 2009 Doug (and Chris): Thanks again for a fantastic charter. On a day of tough bites we landed 20 'eyes with 17 keepers and only a couple of lessor critters! Sounded like other "amatuers" were only coming in with 2 or 3! After 5 days of blowing, you were able to put us right on the fish and it wasn't long before we had a "slam back!" As always, the "cast and blast"-er provided comfort and protection and we stayed dry. You run the best outfit I've encountered and consistently out-produce the competition! Thanks again...
